GALLERIES Landscape: The work shown in this gallery represents my exploration of the landscape and the interplay of light and shadow on the land, sea and sky. A 'graphic' and selective approach results in images with bold lines, shapes, textures, and colours, while the exclusion of people in these compositions emphasises the design and abstract quality of natural forms. By freely interpreting what I see most of my landscapes can be regarded as subjective departures from reality. No photograph can ever be a literal transcription of the real world, thus to suggest that ‘the camera never lies’ is clearly quite false. Even an image that at first sight may appear ‘realistic’ will upon closer inspection show many deviations from reality. My landscape photography transforms the elements of nature into, what I hope is, a very personal visual statement. Canaries: This gallery covers the varied landscape (rural and urban) of the four main Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) and display the beauty and the starkness of this volcanic archipelago. Miscellaneous:
This gallery consists
of images that don't quite fit into the landscape theme, such as macro, graphic/abstract and wildlife photographs. Military: The images shown in this gallery represents various commissions and freelance work, undertaken with the armed forces, and at military and aviation orientated events. This has ranged from air-to-air photography with the Royal Air Force, to naval war manoeuvres in the English Channel, to covering the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the D-Day landings. Astronomical: My other great passion is astronomy. This gallery comprises of a growing selection of astronomical photographs taken through several of my telescopes over the past few years. Astrophotography these days is a very high tech affair with CCD/digital cameras, computer controlled telescopes, and a great deal of post production work. Interestingly, many amateur astronomers are now producing photographs that rival, or even better, those taken through the largest professional telescopes just a few decades ago! These galleries will be regularly updated. All of these images (and more) are available as fine art prints. Contact
